OPTIMALE (Optimising Professional Translator Training in a Multilingual Europe) is an Erasmus Academic Network involving 70 partners from 32 different European countries (including 27 within the EU).

OPTIMALE will monitor the changing nature of the translation professions in the age of the internet, social networks and increasing automation. It aims to act as a vehicle and stimulus for innovation and high quality in the training of professional translators.

Employer consultation on competence requirements

The employer consultation on competence requirements is now closed. Many thanks are due to all the respondents who contributed to the success of our project. Having reliable information at hand is instrumental in optimizing translator training programmes, so that employers can recruit the highly proficient young graduates they need.

The results of this survey are now available on this website: Project outcomes > WP4: Monitor market and societal needs and professional requirements relevant to translator training.

These results were presented during the OPTIMALE conference, which took place in Brussels on December 1, 2011: Video recordings.
